An outing to Zoa Parc
near our Var campsite
Close to our Var campsite, Sanary-sur-Mer (26 km by road) is a charming seaside resort and home to Zoa Parc, a human-sized zoo open all year round. Both a wildlife park and a botanical park, Zoa Parc boasts over 300 animals, 80 species and a rich diversity of flora. For a family outing with a change of scenery during your next vacation on the Mediterranean coast, count on Zoa Parc!
The park has been designed to minimize the boundaries between man and animal throughout the visit. It’s an intimate zoo whose varied flora and fauna will enable you to contemplate magnificent species and learn a little more about certain animals that are little-known to the general public. The Sanary-sur-Mer park is home to three main categories of animals: birds (from parrots to flamingos and noble pheasants), mammals including servals, fennecs, wallabies, marmosets and meerkats (children may recognize Timon from The Lion King), and reptiles, represented by iguanas, Florida tortoises, monitor lizards and spectacled caimans. Occasionally, the Zoa Parc family expands, and in September, a cute little ocelot was born!
A stroll through the botanical gardenof Zoa Parc
Zoa Parc is also a rich botanical garden where you can stroll and contemplate tropical and Mediterranean species, each more beautiful and surprising than the last. You’ll find the famous carnivorous plants, agaves and pebble plants, strange oval-shaped plants that look like pebbles embedded in the earth. Fruit trees also populate the park: papaya, banana and pineapple (which is not a tree, by the way, but a plant bearing the same name as this exquisite fruit). The botanical garden offers a truly exotic stroll that will make your visit to Zoa parc a particularly pleasant change of scenery.
Entertainmentat Zoa Parc
Young and old alike can enjoy themselves to the full during their camping holiday in the Var, thanks to the various activities offered by Zoa Parc. The animal and botanical park offers themed activities throughout the year (Halloween, Easter, summer vacations). Games, concerts and other shows will brighten up your day at this zoo like no other. The zoo organizes workshops for children and teenagers, allowing them to step into the shoes of an animal caretaker (an opportunity to perhaps develop a vocation) and to accompany the park’s staff in their day-to-day work: feeding the animals, cleaning up, taking part in their care are just some of the activities on offer. The educational farm, open to all, will also be an opportunity to come into contact with friendly animals that can be tamed and stroked to the delight of children: dwarf Senegalese goats, sheep, donkeys and other shy hens will be on hand. Last but not least, a new children’s playground allows the youngest visitors to let off steam during a snack break before resuming their visit to the zoo.
